I continue to work on my SBS quilt albeit it slowly. Today as part of my process of foundation I was pressing and must have had the iron far to hot as it melted the foundation violene I use for making my blocks, so back to the drawing board for this one. I have also signed up to participate in a fabric exchange over at 'Stash Manicure' which I am really looking forward to, could be quite a challenge but I am looking forward to meeting my swap partner.
On the house front we are slowly but hopefully surely proceeding towards a point where maybe we can actually start building. The hold up has been the subdivision but it is apparently now in the hands of the 'Titles Office' so maybe just maybe we will be actually be able to settle sometime next week, fingers crossed.
I'm sure my patchwork hobby has taught me the patience needed if one decides to build a new house!!!!!
Just have to go with the flow.

I have been remiss in not posting for a while. I have been busy sewing although haven't yet done the photos for my latest Sylvias blocks. Very wet here today and to top it off the power was off from 9.15. What better day to go to Geelong and check out the new fabric shop and I was not disappointed. They were not disappointed either as I left behind some cash. I'ts really great to be able to get one of my favouritebrand of needles 'Bohin' which are French, the others I like are Richard Hemming which are very hard to find as well. I find as I've got older I need a longer needle and these two are excellent. I have just added a great Blog design button which I found accidently and it has some very good free goodies

I have finally put my head down and done a few blocks this week. Recently I have been working on a hand project that will long term. Unfortunately I have now sewn all the pieces that I had cut for it and the fabric I need to cut more is packed in a box 'somewhere' in this house.
On the house front we are finally in the system e.g. subdivision is finally complete, survey pegs are in, so we can no go ahead and get soil tests done and building permits. I suppose this will be another month!!!!!! and I thought this would be easy. It would have much easier to have purchased a house but couldn't find one we didn't want to make major alterations to so went with the building option. I know we won't regret it when we are finally in it 'next year'.

Give Away
I have finally decided on my give away. It will be a pack of 50x 5 inch charm squares. All you have to do to win is tell me what you will do with them if you are the winner. Winner will be announced on July 1st. Tell your friends if you think they would like this pack. I had hoped this would be a big bundle of 1/2 square triangles, problem is amongst all the boxes in the house and shed I can't find them, so they will have to be for a later date.

I finally put the finishing touches to Lolas cot quilt today. Now all I have to do is make an appropriate label for it. I will post a photograph before I send it off to Western Australia. I am nearing 1,000 visitors to my bog, I will have think of something to have as a giveaway. I know I have got quite a number of things suitable but they are packed in boxes 'somewhere'. I will let you all know when I have found something appropriate.

Because this weekend is a long weekend I had planned to spend most of it sewing however, I have spent most of my time checking out lots of lovely blogs. Its very addictive, going from one to another, lots of lovely eye candy. Finally today I got to the sewing machine and put the binding on Lola's cot quilt so only have to hand stitch it down now and make a label and another project finished, also did another block for my Sylvias Bridal Sampler. I think I have done about 30 now, but seems a very long way to go. Hopefully next week will be more productive!!!!

Finally I have got around to posting photographs of my latest blocks. As you can see from the names underneath I have altered positions of some of the blocks or in some cases made a completely different block to what is shown in the book. I want to make this quilt my own not just a replica and I must admit I really don't like the positioning of some of the blocks in the book. I like a little more balance. There seems to me to be quite a few areas where there are a bunch of stars together or x type blocks, so I have chosen to move quite a few around.
On the house front we are still awaiting the finishing off of the subdivision. All of the conveniences eg power, sewerage etc have been connected up and we are now just waiting on footpath and road to be completed. Once that is done the soil testing and levels can be done in readiness for the building. I can't wait for it all to begin (won't be until early July hopefully!)

Its been a busy month in my household. We have had a week in Bright, Vic., moved house, had a week in WA to welcome our new granddaughter Lola Alice, born 10 May. The downside to all this is that I have not sewn one stitch, even Lola's quilt awaits its borders. Originally I intended to take it with us when we went 10 days after she was born, putting the borders on when I knew what sex this new baby was, best laid plans!!!! She was 10 days late so consequently the quilt didn't get its borders before we went. Was a very good excuse for a shopping trip though. Boy there is some absolutely gorgeous things out there for babies these days. No longer the 'Bonds' nighties for the newbies!!!!!!! Hopefully my life might settle down a bit now and I can get some more blocks done for my 'Sylvias' quilt before building a new house takes over my life; selecting carpet, paint etc. etc. will be fun though as we built our last house when we got married 43 years ago. Imagine all the new mod cons I can have this time. Though I must admit I had them all back then, only difference is they are no longer mod cons. Dishwasher was my own two hands and a twin tub washing machine was a wonder. I am looking forward to a trip to Bacchus Marsh with the Geelong Scquilters at the end of the month, so I better get to it and get some hand sewing organized if nothing else for this month.

Today I finished packing up everything that I intend packing and storing for probably 12 months, while we rent/build. The only fabric I have not packed is everything needed for my Sylvias Bridal Quilt and a hand pieced quilt I am doing which will be very long term. I have been so busy packing this last month that I haven't really done much sewing wise except a couple of blocks for Sylvias which I hope to post photographs of before we move on the 23rd April. Who knows I might even get another couple done before then.

I have just realized by flicking through this blog that my 'Contrary Husband' block pictured below has a very definite mistake. Bother now I will have to unpick. Haven't been able to get the machine much of late, too busy sorting and tossing as we have sold our house and must move into a rental in April until approx. christmas when hopefully we will have a brand new house to move into.
